Trip Itinerary

Track tigers & leopard in India’s Rajasthan

Ranthambore National Park (3 Nights)
3 Nights

Ranthambore National Park

Arrival in Ranthambore

Following arrival in Delhi you quickly leave the chaos of the capital behind and head for the Aravali and Vindhya hill ranges and Ranthambhore National Park in eastern Rajasthan. Settle into your camp on the forest fringe.

Tracking tiger

Rising early, after a steaming cup of chai brought to your tent, begin your private safari by jeep with your expert guide in search of tiger. The dry tropical forests are dotted with banyan trees and flame of the forest, splashing the canopy with their bright orange blooms. Jackal, mongoose, striped hyena, sloth bear and leopard also roam the forests and in winter, thousands of birds migrate from Europe and Siberia making Ranthambhore an ornithologist’s paradise.

Explore the ruins of the 8th century fort atop a ridge in the heart of Ranthambhore’s tiger territory. There are superb views of the reserve from the battlements. Make a final afternoon game drive before dinner under the stars.

Tracking leopard at Jawai

Return to the wilderness and Jawai, amid scrub and granite hills where Rabari shepherds lead their flocks, respecting and living in harmony with the leopard. In the absence of monuments this part of Rajasthan is off the beaten track and offers a unique wildlife experience without the crowds.

In the foothills of the ancient Aravalli Range in Northwest India, nomads and big cats co-exist like nowhere else in the world. The landscape of towering granite mounds and craggy outcrops that rise up from a patchwork of scrubby thickets and small sown fields is the perfect habitat for leopard. The chance of spotting them here is among the highest in India, especially with expert naturalists and trackers that will guide you.
