Why is the Atacama Desert so dry?
Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, the Atacama Desert’s aridity is a result of the rain shadow effect. Moisture-laden winds from the ocean are blocked by the coastal mountains, while the Andes prevent humid air from the Amazon Basin, creating an environment where rainfall is exceedingly rare
What is the best time to visit the Atacama Desert?
The Atacama Desert is a year-round destination, with each season offering its own unique charm. However, the months from September to November and March to May are particularly pleasant, providing milder temperatures and fewer tourists.
